Beating Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are one of the most notorious and dreaded residential pests, causing great dread because of the tumult that their discovery brings.    Being most active in the summer and early fall months, bed bugs can grow up to a quarter of an inch.   With rapid maturation cycles, from baby to adult in a month and high reproduction rates, bed bugs can move fast and most be eliminated post haste.   A single female can lay 500 eggs in her lifetime and has a life span of several years, even up to a year without feeding.   An additional confounding element is low detectability for casual observers, allowing bed bugs to run rampant.   Scientifically bed bugs are known as Cimex Lectularius and are primarily detected through the red welts they leave often under arms on the lower legs.  While not normally disease carriers, the pests do cause inflammation and a general feeling of disgust.  In our experience bed bugs are active in The Woodlands, TX area of North Houston and do pose a perpetual pest threat to apartment residents and home owners in our community.   If you regularly travel, be carefully that your luggage does not become a vessel for a solitary stowaway to launch a bed bug invasion force.  One Source technicians will be glad to help you prevent and eliminate these nasty pests.   As the hometown pest control specialists for The Woodlands & Montgomery County, TX our veteran pest team has extensive experience handling these complex crises.
